How to Give Back on #GivingTuesday

December 1, 2015  •

#GivingTuesday is the largest global day of generosity. It’s dedicated to the idea that there’s always more to share and give – and we couldn’t agree more. It always falls after Cyber Monday, and this year, that happens on Dec. 1.

What a better way to start off “The Giving Season” (as Rachael calls it) than joining millions of people around the world?

We always make sure that your donations to Yum-o! go towards programs that matter, like helping feed hungry kids or supporting high school kids that want to go to culinary or hospitality school, and we also work to help our partners around the country that are working to make a difference. Here’s what a few of them are up to for #GivingTuesday.

And, don’t forget: You don’t have to simply give dollars. Your time and voice are just as valuable. Make sure you share how you give by adding #GivingTuesday to all your social posts to be a part of this worldwide movement!

Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry

Donate a tweet! Join No Kid Hungry’s Thunderclap (one, coordinated social media message that goes out all out once) to help spread the word about their efforts to help hungry kids around the country. Plus, all donations on #GivingTuesday are being matched up to $50,000 – the equivalent to 1 million meals – by Hickory Farms.

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation

Our friends at the Alliance for a Healthier Generation are giving something unique for #GivingTuesday – more recess to help kids feel active and healthy. Help bring recess back to schools through their #GiveRecess #GivingTuesday initiative and making a donation.

Feeding America

Feeding America is working to fund 100 million meals by the end of #GivingTuesday. Help them #GiveAMeal with your donation, where $1 = 11 meals. Plus, for every dollar you give, Bank of America will give $2, turning your 11 meals into 33!

City Harvest

Live in NYC? You’ve probably heard of our friends at City Harvest, whose Feed Our People campaign is in full-swing. Whether you donate funds, collect food, or volunteer your time, you can help them rescue  millions of pounds of food and deliver it to hungry New Yorkers.

FoodCorps

Our friends at FoodCorps are partnering with Lifeway to help its program grow. If 200 or more people donate to FoodCorps on #GivingTuesday, Lifeway will donate $25,000 to sponsor a FoodCorps leader in northwest Arkansas. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Don’t forget to add the #GivingTuesday hashtag to all your social media posts to join the conversation and see what your friends and family are giving this year!
