Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity, feeding America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engaging people nationwide in the fight to end hunger. Each year, the Feeding America network provides food to more than 37 million low-income people facing hunger in the United States, including more than 14 million children and nearly 3 million seniors. This network of more than 200 food banks serves all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, securing and distributing more than 2.5 billion pounds of food and grocery products annually. Member food banks support approximately 61,000 local charitable agencies and 70,000 programs, which provide food directly to individuals and families in need.
The name "Feeding America" conveys that the organization is providing access to food for people who need it. It also communicates the positive power of food to be a catalyst in people's lives. In essence, "feeding" serves as a double meaning - both providing food and enriching lives. Yum-o! supports Feeding America's vision through our Feed program area by providing funding to support the purchase of food through initiatives such as Yum-o!'s "If You Can...We Can!" food drive. In addition, Rachael is a member of Feeding America's Entertainment Council, where she serves as a spokesperson on the issue of childhood hunger and raises awareness about Feeding America's mission.
