The Lunch Box

June 30, 2012  •

The Lunch Box is an online toolkit with “Healthy Tools For All Schools,” packed with solutions at your fingertips. You can use any of these free tools to transform your school food into healthy and delicious food for all children, at every school. The recipes and other tools-for-change featured on this site have worked well for school districts across the country and can be used to make positive change happen in your community, too!

Founded by Chef Ann Cooper, The Lunch Box provides information that empowers schools to serve nutritious whole food to all students. Known as the Renegade Lunch Lady, Chef Ann Cooper saw a drastic need to change the way kids relate to food and decided to do something about it. So with zeal and thick skin, the Director of Nutrition Services for the Boulder Valley School District, chef, author and speaker rolled up her sleeves, rallied her troops and proved that a movement begins with the power of one! From local school reform to national campaigns, she is making a lasting difference. For some inspiration, watch this video to see the Renegade Lunch Lady on a mission to change an outdated, unhealthy system!

Next, visit The Lunch Box website, where you’ll find more than 120 kid-and school-tested recipes, a central library of resources – such as evaluations, grant finding and writing tools, case studies, Farm to School resources and more – technical tools and a whole community section for getting the conversation going!
