There’s No Such Thing as Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen

September 1, 2015  •

I’m So Glad You’re Here

Welcome to the (new and) improved Yum-o! website. If you haven’t put two-and-two together, Yum-o! is Rachael Ray’s cooking and kids charity that has three goals; Cook, Feed, and Fund.

We do what we do for many reasons, but one of the most fulfilling is when we make a difference in a child or their family’s life. Nothing brings a smile to our faces more than creating memories and experiences around food and the kitchen. I hope you snoop around and find what you’re looking for, whether it’s a recipe, an inspiring story in our How Cool Is That section (my personal favorite!), or learning more about one of our many amazing partners.

Yum-o! is a charity, but even if you can’t donate your dollars, you can donate your time – share a recipe or something you learned with your social networks, volunteer with one of our partners, or just get in the kitchen with your family and make something great. It all adds up to making life just a little more delicious, and trust me, we need more of you out there cooking. There’s no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen!

Call me Kappy

I should probably introduce myself: My name is Andrew Kaplan (Rachael calls me “Kappy”). I am from Chicago,  grew up in the food world, and have had the fortunate opportunity to be by Rachael’s side throughout the life of Yum-o! as its Director. I am a trained chef and help Rach on many different projects she works on, but one of the things we love to talk about most is Yum-o! and the work we do. For me, growing up as a kid was all about my memories around food; whether at a restaurant, in the kitchen, or at holiday time with my relatives. So, don’t be surprised if you catch me sharing a recipe about a delicious dish I made for my wife or cooked with my niece and nephews.

Can I help?

Every month, I’ll be penning a letter to you – and let’s face it, probably posting more often than that, since I love this stuff so much. I might tell you more about what I’m cooking, what’s fresh and in-season, or a new initiative that Yum-o!’s working on. But this isn’t a one-way street. Got questions? Ideas? Come and talk with us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, and our team will be around to help. And, maybe I’ll answer your question in my next post.
