Think Breakfast!

April 15, 2014  •

We’ve all heard that a nutritious breakfast is key for learning during the school day. To encourage students to develop this healthy habit, the New York State Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Program has developed a program for New York State teachers under the name, Think Breakfast!

Teachers who register for the program are provided a custom-collated package that includes a variety of materials that aid teachers in educating students about the benefits of eating breakfast. This free, three-week program of classroom activities aims to encourage and motivate students to eat breakfast each day.

The Think Breakfast! website also provides many resources available for download to teachers, parents and students, even if they are not enrolled in the program. There are also tools for parents, including nutrition facts and healthy recipes, a portion size chart and craft ideas. For kids, the website includes grab-and-go breakfast ideas, apps and games, videos, fun activities and an interactive story.

The Abram Lansing School in Cohoes, NY was so inspired by the program that they created their own dance video to inspire other students! Want to learn the dance moves? Check out this instructional video, here!

Whether you’re a teacher, school administrator, parent or student, visit the Think Breakfast! website to learn how you can foster lifetime health habits and a positive school environment!
