Rachael’s
Big Block Party!

In August, Rachael, her team from Yum-o! and the producers from her daytime television show, Rachael Ray, headed to Chicago to host the biggest block party Chicago has seen in quite some time!

With Yum-o!’s mission in mind, Rachael and the Yum-o! team empowered families with affordable, accessible food solutions and supplied them with the basics about where food comes from and how to stretch a buck – while still making healthy food choices. Music from Kool and the Gang and plenty of physical activities got everyone grooving and moving. Hands-on gardening, cooking and fruit and veggie-tasting stations, demos with superstar chefs Rocco Dispirito, Rick Bayless and Art Smith, interactive games, improv with Chicago’s famed Second City, booths hosted by celebrity athletes and a Block Party Farmers’ Market all encouraged kids and their families to make healthier choices when it comes to food and living an active lifestyle.

Delicious food was available at every turn, including fresh guacamole from Frontera Foods, deli sandwiches from Sara Lee, burgers from Allen Brothers and fresh pastries from the students at the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago (CHIC).

The non-stop fun continued all day long, and the kids and families of Chicago were amazing guests. Rachael was thrilled to be their host!
