The Matthew Project

Serving families in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, The Matthew Project seeks to address the problem of food insecurity and food insecurity with hunger by providing one hot meal every evening to those who find themselves in need.

It is the simplicity of The Matthew Project that makes it is such a success. Volunteers make a meal that serves twelve one day a month – the same day and the same meal – and deliver it to a team leader. One team feeds 120 people. Multiply by 31 teams, and those 120 people are fed each day of the month by one team. While inspired by the words of Matthew 25:40, the organization is nondenominational and can can easily be replicated because the model is simple. The Matthew Project also seeks to raise awareness about food insecurity and and hunger, as well as to provide basic clothing and toiletries. To date, there are over 100 volunteers cooking and serving approximately 2000 meals a month.
